OPI Standing Room Only Silver
Wrapping up holo week (has it only been a week?) I have OPI’s SRO (Standing Room Only) Silver. I do have a couple of other ones to bring you but I shall be interspersing them with other polishes as to be honest much as I love the holos I’m getting a bit bored (which means I’m sure you are too) and have lots of other funky things to be trying out.
Not that I’m postponing having to do that evil Chanel holo that’s guaranteed to put me in a bad mood or anything… I was also going to do DV8 tonight but I’ve had a couple of client meetings sprung on me this week and I don’t think the old men of the engineering world would appreciate it, lovely though it is. So keep your eyes peeled as the others’ll be along in due course.
SRO is from the 2003 Holiday On Broadway collection, same as Opening Night Gold that I reviewed the other day.
I love Broadway. My boyfriend booked me a surprise trip to New York for my 30th birthday last year and it was utterly amazing. We stayed in a hotel “on Broadway”, as the song goes, and had the time of our lives. I want to go back, and back, and back again. If only it were closer! Is there anywhere more magical than New York at Christmas with the one you love?
Anyway. I may have been having an off day, but this was a hard polish to work with.
It is super sheer, and I think would be better just used as a topcoat.
This was about five coats. I also learned that holos DO NOT mix with OPI’s Drip Dry Drops. They made it claggy, sticky and nasty and could not dry the multiple layers of polish. Even less coats wouldn’t work with Drip Dry as it messed with the sheen of the polish. Basically I was being lazy and my new Seche was in another room, still bubblewrapped.
So, all in all, not a massive hit for those who want their nails to be opaque. As a thin topcoat to holo up another polish, this would work like a dream. I found that the next day it was still denting and some of it even peeled off in the shower.
It’s a shame actually as the holo in it was really nice. All pink, purple and sparkly and it was quite breathtaking when it hit the light.
Can anyone recommend a better silver holo? This was pretty enough, but trust me, not worth the soggy, sticky hassle.

I loooooved holo week! This one looks so nice, too bad about the sheerness. What did you end up wearing at your appearance?!

Kae, I’m glad you enjoyed Holo Week. Yay!
I’ve just blogged (above) on what I chose for the tv filming…I played it very safe!

It does look nice on you, even though it took massive coats. Check out the Nfu Oh one I posted today. It’s my favorite holo. I bet the old men in the engineering field would be mesmerized by your holo polish
It sounds like your trip to NY was wonderful. I live an hour from Chicago and we love it at Christmas time, although I imagine NYC is even better.

Oh Mary I checked it out for all of 10 seconds before Explorer aborted the page. Bad, bad bad! I hope it sorts itself out.
I am so going to come to Chicago one day – its on my list of places to see for sure.

Very nice looking, But that is a lot of coats! The top coat idea sounds fab, for SRO. I love the Big Apple! I actual lived there for about a year. I left home in search of myself,as most 19 year olds will do…lol! This was before I met my husband. You know those Beatnik days of coffee and cigarettes that I’ve talked about..lol! I worked in a bakery, and used to visit the The Met (museum) at least once a week. And yes Christmas in New York is fantastic! It was a wonderful experience. And I’ll always cherish the memories I have of that wonderful city. I’m so glad you were able to visit too!

Velvet, that is a very cool and brave thing to do. I’m a bit jealous.
I adored the Met when we went there. And Central Park…and Bloomingdales…and Fifth Avenue. Ohhh I want to live there!

Oh thanks Kitty – I’ll bear that in mind when the no-buy is over! I really think ChG holos trump OPIs.

Pretty fabuslous nails as always. I don’t own this and won’t bother getting it. I loved holo week. I think you should wear something bright and flashy for the guys to look at. Lucky you getting to New York. I’ve never been there. It sure looks gorgeous at Christmas. I usually watch any Christmas special that’s in NY. Velvet sure was brave to live in NY by herself. Must have been exciting.

Thanks Lucy – I’m pleased you enjoyed holo week too.
